Corporal, Co. B, 28th Massachusetts Infantry

Standing 5 ft. 7-1/2 in. tall, with a light complexion, dark hair, and hazel eyes, Edgar, a 27-year-old Farmer, was drafted as a Private into Co. B of the 28th Massachusetts Infantry on August 23, 1863. He was promoted a week later to Corporal. Taken ill with Tuberculosis, which was followed by pneumonia on Nov. 24, 1863, he was admitted to the hospital and subsequently transferred to Mason General Hospital at Boston from where he was discharged due to disability on July 27, 1864.

Edgar died of Tuberculosis at the Discharged Soldiers Home, Boston and was interred at the Soldiers Lot at Mount Hope cemetery on November 10, 1866.
