From the Families of Old Fairfield: "Lt of the Derby Trainband in May 1685, granted Lt. in May 1686 for services in late Indian War; Capt of volunteers in New Haven and Fairfield Counties in Sept 1689; Capt for Albany Expedition in Apr 1690; Capt of troops marching to NY in June 1697; Sergt-Major of New Haven County in May 1704 and retired May 1709 because of age and long service; Lt-Col in the expedition against Port Royal in Aug 1710; Deputy from Derby to the General Court numerous times from 1685 to 1723; Committee on RI boundary in Oct 1702; guardian of Paugasset Indians in Mar 1704; Commissioner for Derby in 1690 and 1692-97; Justice several years from 1698 to 1724."
