William was a son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. His parents were Edward Knox and Nellie Marie (Purcell) Knox, buried in Floral Park as well. William was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He married Katherine Juanita (Milum) on January 17, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their issue was: William Franklin Knox Jr, December 17, 1943; Patricia Ann Knox, May 31, 1946; Michael Lee Knox, August 13, 1947 and Dennis Lynn Knox, born September 9, 1953. William is a veteran of World War II serving as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He spent a good part of his service time on the Amazon River in South America repairing damaged ships. He was a race car driver in the Indianapolis area running at Kitley Avenue (Art Zipp's) race track as well as Speedway Race track which was located across from the Indy 500 track many years ago. He enjoyed driving on the dirt tracks, mostly at Paragon, Indiana. Bill attended Indianapolis Public Schools, but, for the most part, was self-taught. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and it's affiliates. He enjoyed the York Rite work and was a Past Commander and Past High Priest at Shelbyville, Indiana. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He retired from the New York Central/Conrail Railroad in 1982, bought a motor home and traveled to NASCAR events all over the country. He was a man of peace. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!"
