Charles McDougall
Birth: Sep. 21, 1804
Death: Jul. 25, 1885

Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. Served during the Civil War as a Major and Surgeon in the Regular Army. He served in successive appointments as Medical Director of the Department of Virginia, the Department of the Mississippi, and the Department of the East. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Regular Army on March 13, 1865, for "faithful and meritorious services during the war". He continued in the Army after the end of the conflict, retiring in 1869 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was the father-in-law of Confederate Brigadier General John Adams, who was killed in the November 1864 Battle of Franklin, Tennessee. (bio by: Connie Nisinger)
