Emma C was born July 14, 1901 near Fort Calhoun, Nebraska to Charles and Anna (Knag) Heise.

Her parents had been blessed with at least 7 children, though in 1910 Anna sadly told the census taker that of the 7, only 4 were living. In 1910, the Heises were farming in Union Township, Douglas County, Nebraska. The 1910 US Census lists:
Charles Heise, 35, head, farmer, b. NE to German parents
Anna Heise, 32, wife, b. NE to Danish parents
Emma Heise, 8, daughter, b. NE
Wilhelmina Heise, 7, daughter, b. NE
Fred Heise, 5, son, b. NE
Christena Heise, 4, daughter, b. NE
Hans Tietges, 22, farm laborer, b. NE to German parents

Sadly, her father, Charles, died in May, 1929.

From at least 1935-1940, Anna and Emma were living in Omaha. Emma, who had completed 8th grade, was doing housework in private homes to support herself and her widowed mother.

Her mother died in December, 1954. Emma herself entered eternity April 1, 1992 and was buried beside her parents.

Services were Saturday, April 4, 1992 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna (Knag) Heise; a brother, Fred Heise and two sisters, Wilhelmena Johansen and Christena Iversen.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Russell Logemann, Bennington; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Kremer Funeral Home in Omaha was in charge of arrangements.
