Nancy Joyce Hatch Scott, 76, passed away, August 14, 2005 at her home in Ivins, Utah. She was born on August 24, 1928 in Homestead near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Jesse Hatch and Helen Frances Kamm Hatch. She married Arden Lowell Scott in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple, on July 18, 1946.

Nancy lived in Pittsburgh until her marriage. She lived in California for many years before coming to Utah. She loved to play the piano and organ and many said she was one of the best organist around. She was the organist for her LDS church ward wherever she lived.

She had a musical gift. She loved to make beautiful things. She painted incredible nature scenes with oils and enjoyed tole painting. She was in charge of many Bazaars for her church. They were always a great success. Her home was a Mecca of creativity where everyone felt welcome.

Her family loved her very much and will greatly miss her. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Arden Lowell Scott of Ivins, Utah, her son, Jesse (Kathy) Scott of Taylorsville, Utah, and three daughters, Colleen (Tom) Ray of 29 Palms, CA, Jo Lynne (Dennis) Watkins of Visalia, CA, and Laurie (Kevin) Smith of Encinitas, CA. She has 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She has one brother, Senator Orrin (Elaine) Hatch of Salt Lake City, Utah, and three sisters, Marilyn (Norm) Kuch of La Crescenta, CA, Frances Merrill of Murray, Utah and Jessica (Norm) Cluff of Orem, Utah.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Church, Heritage building, 240 E. 1060 S., Ivins, Utah. Burial will be held in the Ivins Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.

The family wishes to express their great appreciation to the IHC Hospice staff. They showed such loving kindness to our mother and were supportive of family members needs and concerns. They helped us more than they will ever know.
