Born 6 Jun 1921 to the name Gladys Louise Esselman. She was born and raised in Waxahachie, Texas to the parents of William & Mattie Throckmorton Esselman. She graduated Waxahachie High School back in 1939. There was never a time that you never saw Louise without her best friend in the world Mary Esta. The two were inseperable. She never liked her name so she changed her name from Gladys Louise to Mary Louise.
She served our country as part of the Texas Guardettes. Their duties were to help the Red Cross and the wounded soldiers when they came back home from WWII. She later got a job working for the Mercentale Bank in downtown Dallas. She stayed there until she met Grover Griggs in 1945 and dated not too long before they were married. When Grover surrendered his life to the ministry, she learned quickly on being a (PW) Preachers Wife.
She and Grover had three daughters. Nancy, Debra and Cathy. Being Grover was in the ministry, they moved from place to place where ever God called them too. She was the strong hold and the peace maker in the family. She devoted her life to her husband, his work and their family. She got her daughters piano lessons and had the girls singing. This started the girls on their road to singing gospel songs in every church they've been involed.
She loves the color purple and owned hundreds of pairs of shoes. She collected roosters & chicken nick nacks. She loved to go to garage sales with her daughter Debra. And she never met a stranger. She also spoke to women in and out of church about being a breast cancer survivor, being she had cancer in both breast. Her many achievements, she still had time for all of her grandkids and she was blessed in seeing some of her great grand children as well.
She passed away 9 Apr 2007. Her casket was misplaced, so my dad and uncles picked her out a pinkish purple casket with silver handles. She has made an impact in every womans life that has came in her path. She loved to talk about anything and everything. Now she is reunited with her husband, parents and siblings in Heaven.
