US Congressman. He was successful in the mercantile and agricultural business when he moved to Illinois in 1846. He served as the Bureau County surveyor and mayor of Tiskilwa. In 1871, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second Congress, serving until 1873. After his term, he resumed buisness pursuits until his death.
