Mr. Jerry A. Alford, 73, Gadsden, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. Funeral service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. Graveside at Crestwood Cemetery. Norman Flynn will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge or arrangements.

Mr. Alford was a native and lifelong resident of Gadsden. He attended Rainbow Church of Christ. He was retired as the Parks and Recreation Director with the City of Gadsden. Jerry was a die-hard Auburn fan.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce G. Alford, Gadsden; son and daughter-in-law, Craig G. and Sherre Pitman, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dabney Pitman Shapiro, Elizabeth G. Pitman, Mary-Chris Pitman, Caroline G. Pitman; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Eugene Mitchell, Gadsden; brother-in-law, Glenn Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Michael Mitchell, Keith Mitchell, Alan Gentry, Mark Gentry, Brian Thompson and William Leach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Church of Christ, 2201 Rainbow Dr., Gadsden Al 35901 and the American Heart Association (Etowah County Chapter).

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation this afternoon from noon to 2 p.m.
