US Congressman. In 1895 he graduated from the law department of Lake Forest University, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Chicago. He was appointed assistant corporation counsel of Chicago and chief trial attorney in 1906. In 1911, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second Congress, serving until 1913. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
