Actor. He earned praise as an American stage, television, and film actor performing from the 1960s to a day before his death, when he completed the filming of a Budweiser Beer television commercial. The commercial was aired nationally for several months after his passing. Most Hollywood producers considered him as one of the most versatile character actors of his time. Released in 1961, he made a brief appearance in the thriller film "Fear No More" as the train conductor. He did not work professionally again until retiring from a successful banking career in 1980. In films, he played the role of various characters from a Hindu priest to a Greek tycoon. On stage, he appeared in a number of roles that ranged from the Bishop of Carlise in "Richard II" to author Truman Capote in "Dark Angles." Born Emile George Hamaty in Savannala, Westmoreland, Jamaica in what was British West Indies, he emigrated to New York in 1952 and became a naturalized American citizen in 1960. His parents were Solomon Hamaty and Ramza Shagoury. His busy acting career came to a sudden end with a heart attack.
