Austria Royalty. Wife of Archduke Albert. They presided as regents of the Netherlands for the Spanish monarchy. She was the daughter of Phillip II of Spain and Albert of Austria was her cousin. They reigned over a period of prosperity and culture, the high noon of the country under Spanish rule. After Albert's death, she retired to a convent. Their tomb was destroyed during the period of the French Revolution.
