Pleasant's 2nd wife, Louisiana Armstrong "Lou" (Amis) [Galbraith] Henderson, was first married to Audley A. "Andy" Galbraith (1818-1845), who was my [Sammy Boyd] 1st cousin 4 times removed, as well as other relationships, through the Anderson, Campbell, and Skillern families.

Pleasant Henderson is my 3rd great grandfather.
A study of the 1840 census for Hawkins Co, TN shows that Pleasant's father was almost certainly Samuel Henderson Sr. living next to Pleasant and his probable brother Samuel Jr. Samuel Sr. was born 1780-90, Pleasant was born 1800-1810, and Samuel Jr. was born 1810-1820. All were married with children. It is most likely that Samuel Sr.‘s father was Nathaniel Henderson based on the 1830 census showing Nathaniel b. 1760-70 living next to Samuel b. 1780-90, both with children.

To confuse matters there is also a Pleasant L. Henderson born 1810-1820 in the 1840 census for Hawkins Co. It is not clear who his father was.

In the 1850 census our Pleasant and his wife, Louisiana AMIS have moved to Missouri. In the 1840 census for Hawkins Co, TN, Louisiana's father, James AMIS, is living eleven farms from Pleasant.

There is another GALBRAITH connection. Samuel Sr, Pleasant's father's wife was Tabatha GALBRAITH.

Pleasant was no doubt named after Pleasant Henderson, the brother of the famous Judge Richard Henderson (xxxx - ) who formed the Transylvania Land Company. Henderson is reported to have traded goods with the Cherokee Indians for lands in Kentucky. It is said that during the 1760s, he hired Daniel Boone to lead a group of men to clear a road and build a fort for the settlers he was recruiting to move from NC into Kentucky.

We believe Samuel's father or grandfather was Nathaniel Henderson (xxxx- xxxx, another brother of Richard and Pleasant Henderson.
