John W. Beeks, 81, of Dallesport died Wednesday, May 25 in The Dalles.
He was born July 3, 1906 at Pleasant Valley to John W. and Minnie Beeks. He attended schools at Pleasant Valley, Goodnoe Hills and in Goldendale.
He married Cynthia Dingmon Jan. 12, 1926 in Goldendale. He was a sheep rancher for a time. The family moved near Roosevelt in 1940 where Mr. Beeks was employed as Roosevelt school custodian and bus driver. The family moved to Dallesport in 1976.
A member of the White Creek Grange, Mr. Beeks enjoyed fishing and rock hunting.
Mr. Beeks is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of Dallesport; one daughter, Connie Namie of Mollala, Ore.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. A sister, Irene Bartlemay of Packwood, Wash., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held May 31, in the chapel of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Rex Van Beek of the United Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Jim Lachine of Randall, Wash.; Gene Beeks of Astoria, Ore.; Ronald Binns of Mosier, Ore.; Jack Beeks of Packwood, Wash.; Bob Beeks of Trout Lake; and North West of Dallesport. Honorary pallbearers were Horace Allan White, Bob Juris and Leslie Kelly.
