Goldendale resident Mrs.Vera Violet Beeks, 90, passed away February 27 in Goldendale. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Martin on January 19, 1895 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Beeks came to the Centerville area in 1912. She married Philip Lowery Beeks on July 12, 1913 in Wapato (WA).

She was a lifelong member of the Centerville Church of Christ, and was very active in church activities.

Survivors include four sons, Malcolm and Calvin Beeks of Goldendale, Phillip Beeks of Trout Lake, and James Beeks of Woodburn, Oregon; two daughters, Sharon Hayden of Goldendale and Vera Cotton of Woodburn, Oregon; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip in 1942, and by two daughters, Clarice Beeks in 1934 and Nellie Short in 1979.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home. Bob Carder of the Centerville Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
