Joseph was married four times; First to Miss Annie Potts, Jan, 2, 1859; Second to Miss Margie Tilmond Aug. 17, 1865; Third to Miss Susan Scott May 24, 1871; Fourth to Mrs. Clemmie White (nee Carter.) Feb. 26, 1882. He fathered his only child with Clemmie. Clemmie died Dec. 15, 1919 in Pope County.
DOVER- Miss Lizzie Petty, daughter of Mrs. Joe (Clemmie) Petty, was burned to death the morning of Feburary 1st. Her clothing caught fire from the draft of a Wilson heater, causing instant death.
