| Birth: | Mar. 22, 1843 Piqua Miami County Ohio, USA | | Death: | Nov. 4, 1894 Des Moines Polk County Iowa, USA |  US Congressman. From 1862 to 1864, he was in the Post Office Department, Washington, D.C. and with the US Treasury Department in 1865. In 1866, he was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Des Moines, Iowa. From 1875 to 1879, he was district attorney of the fifth judicial district of Iowa. He was a member of the State senate from 1882 to 1884. In 1884, he was elected as a Republican to the Forty-eighth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John A. Kasson and served to 1885.
