Death of O. W. Alexander
O. W. Alexander died suddenly at his home, Sunday evening, May 11, at the age of fifty-seven years. He had been in apparent good health Sunday, and had spent the day with his wife in Des Moines, visiting their two daughters, Jessie and LaVonne. Upon returning home he attended to some chores and was just finishing when the end came.
Mr. Alexander was born and raised in Madison county, and for the past 28 years had resided on the present farm in Union township. He was united in marriage on January 9, 1895, to Lucy Ann Walker, and to this union were born three children, Alvin, of Winterset, and Jessie and LaVonne, of Des Moines, who survive him. Besides his wife and children he leaves one grandson, Miles Alexander; three brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Hugh Schoen, of Newburg, Oregon; Mrs. Eva Woods of Earlham; Mrs. Etha Koehler and Sampy Alexander, of Van Meter, and Fred and E. J., of Winterset, besides a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 13th, at Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 1:30 o'clock, and at the Jefferson church in Union township at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Paul M. Fowler officiating. Burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery.
