He died while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star Medal with Valor posthumously.
He was survived by his parents; his sister; his grandmothers; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Interment was originally in Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA, but he was re-interred next to his best friend and United States Naval Academy roommate, Lt Brendan John Looney at Arlington National Cemetery on October 1, 2010.
