Ruth L. Nelson, 82 years, of Arlington, NE died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Ruth was born December 16, 1935 at rural Herman, Nebraska to Leonard and Mary (Skinner) Loftis.

She grew up in the Herman area and was a 1953 graduate of Herman High School.

Ruth married Larry L. “Gus” Nelson on February 5, 1956. They lived in Omaha for a short time and moved to Arlington.

She worked at Pendelton Woolen Mills in Fremont for several years. She also worked as Secretary to the Superintendent at Arlington Public Schools. After that she worked for Nebraska Social Services in Fremont until her retirement in 1998. During her retirement she drove for Woodhouse Ford of Blair, NE.

She was a member of the Arlington Community Church, taught Sunday School and was a former cub scout helper. She volunteered at the Arlington Library for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry “Gus” Nelson of Arlington; sons, Jeff (Kathy) Nelson and Bryan (Lisa) Nelson all of Fremont, Rock (Jan) Nelson of Omaha, and Shawn (Audrey) Nelson of Alliance, NE; grandchildren, Michael Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Nichelle Powers, Brittney Patrick, Ian Nelson and Kendall Nelson; step grandchildren, Matt Kroeger and Rene Kroeger; and six great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Dale) Finch of Paige, AZ; sisters-in-law, Janet Loftis of Blair, Arlene (Everett) Kingry of Fremont, and Fran Loftis of Lincoln, NE; and brother-in-law, Carl Launer of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers and sisters.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 20, 2018 at Arlington Community Church in Arlington. The Rev. A. David Paul will officiate. Memorial visitation with family receiving friends will be Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
