He was a cashier for many years at the Exchange Bank and a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville.
Survivors include his wife, Margurite W. Banks of Milledgeville; two sons, Rill Banks of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and Wright Banks of Milledgeville; four sisters, Mrs. O.E. Herndon of Lake City, Fla., Mrs. W.E. Ireland and Mrs. A.L. Thigpen both of Milledgeville and Mrs. C.T. Marsh of Aiken S.C., a brother, Olin Banks of Milledgeville and five grandchildren.
