| Birth: | Dec. 23, 1840 | | Death: | Nov. 4, 1923 Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA |  Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served as a Private in Company F, 6th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the 2nd Battle of Bull Run, Virginia (August 29, 1862). His citation reads "The flag of his regiment having been abandoned during retreat, he voluntarily returned with a single companion under a heavy fire and secured and brought of the flag, his companion being killed". He rose to Sergeant, and was one of the re-enlisting members of the 6th New Jersey who were integrated into the 8th New Jersey Veteran Volunteers when the 6th's term of service expired in November 1864.
