84, of 1519 Florence Avenue, Galesburg, IL, died at 7:35 AM Tuesday July 29, 2003 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born on November 17, 1918 in Henderson County, IL to Percy and Pearl (Norris) Lipes. She married Chester Algren in Galesburg, IL on January 26, 1937. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1989.
She is survived by three sons Gary Algren and Rodney (and Letty) Algren, both of Birmingham, AL and Richard (and Pawnee) Algren of Galesburg, IL, a daughter, Cherie (and Clifford) Yeomans of Galesburg, IL, four sisters, Mary Arthur of CO, June Danner of Galesburg, IL, Ann Hughes of CO and Gladys Stegall of Burlington, IA, two brothers, David Lipes of Moline, IL and Eddie Lipes of Milan, IL, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
She owned the C & I Sandwich Shop from 1959 to 1976. Prior to that she owned the Ferris Cafe. She was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Galesburg.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday July 31, 2003 at Alexis (IL) Cemetery with Mr. Rodney Algren officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Thursday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Emmanuel Methodist Church.
