Merrill Arnold was born Aug. 6, 1911, near Herman, Nebraska to Karl and Edna (Arnold) Hanson. For years, he farmed near Herman on the farm that his grandfather, Lorentz Hanson homesteaded.
Longtime Washington County, Nebraska resident, Merrill A. Hanson, 95, died Jan. 31, 2007, in Denver, Colo.
Services were held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Golden, Colo., and interment was at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.
Mr. Hanson is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Hanson of Sioux Falls, S. D.; daughters and son-in-law, Gwen and Edward Geisler of Arvada, Colo., and Jeanine Casady of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ida Binderup and Gladys Hannan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lydia (Freese).
