A son of Rev. Benjamin and Maria (Sherer) Bucher. He graduated from Loyola Medical School, Chicago in 1915. In 1917 he came to Champaign, Illinois and associated with Dr. S. W. Shyrtz with offices on North Neil Street. He founded Champaign's first medical clinic, the Bucher Clinic, 209 W. University Avenue and remained at the address until his death. He was a renown allergist and instructed allergy at the Julia F. Burnham School of Nursing, as well as being on staff at Burnham City Hospital. He authored many books and articles on nutritian, diets and allergies. He and his wife, Sophia, had one son, Richard and one daughter, Helen Marshall. An active Free Mason, he was Worship Master of Western Star Lodge No. 240 A.F. and A.M. 1934-1935.
