Steven Howard Egan, 68, of Ririe, passed away June 14, 2018, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice, Nuclear Care Partners and his loving family.

Steve was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Idaho Falls to Merlin Howard Egan and Ida Ruth Durrant Egan. He grew up in Idaho Falls where he attended elementary and junior high school. Steve graduated from Ririe High School in 1968. He later attended Eastern Idaho Technical College where he took welding courses. On March 12, 1971, he married Deon Nelson Egan in Ririe. To this union were born two children, Steven Eric and Tawnya Deon. Steve and Deon made their home in the Ririe area.

Steve's career was diverse and distinguished. His certifications included rigger, mobile crane operator, and he held American Welding Society Certification in most of the Western United States. Legacy Projects include Jim Bridger Power Plant, Phelps Dodge Copper Smelter in Mexico, Snake River Landing, over 20 Wal-Marts and Sam's Clubs, four Lowes, nine schools (Rigby High School being the last one) and many other commercial buildings for an approximate total of 85 projects for Bateman Hall Inc.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities including elder, Primary teacher, Webelos leader, assistant Scout leader and home teacher.

His quiet acts of service were felt by family, friends and neighbors alike.

Steve enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking. He was an excellent woodworker. He created and built beautiful heirloom furniture for his home and family.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Deon; son, Steven Eric (Kim) Egan, of Ririe; daughter, Tawnya Deon (Derek) Rollingson, of Castle Rock, Colorado; sister Doriene (Glen) Farnes, of Ammon; sister Jeanette (Dale) Ricks, of Gooding, Idaho; sister Arlene (Art) Fullmer, of Iona; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Egan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Ririe LDS Stake Center, 14061 North 130 East, with Bishop Bert Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
