THE DEMOCRAT McKINNEY, TEXAS, Thursday, February 17,1887
Resolutions in memoriam of Rockquarry Alliance No. 774, Collin County, Texas.
Whereas, on February 28th, 1887, (sic January 28th 1887)the ruler of the universe has in his wisdom seen fit to call from his usefulness on this earth our brother, TAILOR HICKMAN, in the 45th year of his life.
Therefore. Resolved, That we bow with submission to the will of an all-wise God who directs all things for the good of his children. Resolved, That in the death of Brother HICKMAN this alliance has lost a faithful member one who at all events, and under any circumstances was ready to respond to the call of duty.
Resolved, That Brother HICKMAN'S life was brief, his career unobstentations, yet few men in his sphere of life at his age have so thoroughly identified themselves with the calling he selected as to a life work. He was truly a farmer and all with whom he came in contact acknowledged that he was one of God's noblest workers, an honest and industrious man.
Resolved, That we spread these resolutions on the minutes of our Alliance, A copy be furnished the bereaved widow, and the usual badge of mourning be worn by the brothers for 40 days.
