Joella Miller Marler, age 83 passed away on May 25, 2018 in Loveland, CO. She was born February 1, 1935, in Mesa, Arizona to Joseph Edwin Miller and Zelma Mabel Crandall. She was the fifth of six children with four brothers and one sister.
She grew up in Mesa, AZ and attended Mesa High School. After graduation she attended BYU where she met and married Darrell Jay Marler on June 16, 1955. They lived in Seattle, WA and San Jose, CA before moving to Longmont, CO in 1989. Together they had five children, 13 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Joella was a family history consultant for over 20 years and a member of the Longmont Genealogy Society. When her sons were young she was a Den Mother, BSA committee member and merit badge counselor. She was a strategic planner and organized many church dinners and wedding receptions. She enjoyed reading, learning new skills and teaching. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and had many opportunities to serve there with the children’s and women’s organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell; her daughter, Janice; two brothers, Marlan and Henry and her sister, Janet Lambert. She is survived by her brothers Richard Miller of Mesa, AZ and John (Ann) Miller of Orem, UT; Sons, Eric (Denise) Marler of Ogden, UT and Jay Marler of Boise, ID; Daughters Kim (Kimbal) Hancock of Loveland, CO; Son-in-law, Sterling Hoggan of Byron, CA; and Mona Marler of Longmont, CO.
