Dale was a 1957 graduate of Blair High School and on August 9-1959, he married Sharon Lee Mencke at the First Lutheran Church.
After their marriage, Dale and Sharon lived in Fremont were Dale worked for Safteway Stores before moving to Blair. Dale earned his livelihood working in sales for various companies, including Miller-Rolland Furniture and Woodhouse Ford. His last job was with the Blair School District as a driver.
