McCurtain County Local Newspaper November 11, 1926

The following information provided by Shirley Rienecker.

"Ferdinand was the second husband of Irena Arkansas Nichols Michael. They were married in 1884 in Polk County, Arkansas. Ferdinand was from Tennessee. He was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. He entered as a Private in Company A, Regiment 24th Battalion, Tennessee. He was a Sharpshooter (Maney's). He became a Corporal, remained as a Sharpshooter until he mustered out at the end of the war.

His first wife's name was Elizabeth. They raised a family in Cumberland Iron Works, Stewart County, Tennessee, (District 5). Sometime after 1880 his wife died. He moved to Arkansas and met and married Irena Arkansas Michael, who was a widow and the mother of my grandfather William Thomas Michael on September 17, 1884. The 1900 Federal Census shows that Ferdinand and Irena lived in Cedar, Polk County, Arkansas.

I have seen a picture of him. He is quite tall and slim and wore a very long white beard. "
