Sir John Yeamans, Baronet
1611–1674

Baptised on 28 February 1611 in Bristol, England, a younger son of John Yeamans, of Redcliffe, Bristol (died about 1645) and his wife Blanche Germain.

First (and only) Governor of Clarendon County, South Carolina (1665-1667)
Governor of Charles Town (1672-1674

Received a grant of 48,000 acres in South Carolina) in 1671.

He was the third governor of Charles Town (Charleston) from April 19, 1672 to August of 1674, when he died. Several sources assert he was in Barbados when he died, but many other sources assert he was in Charleston at the time of his death.

It is not definitely know whether he was buried at St. James in Charleston or (less likely) at the Yeamans Hall Plantation cemetery.
