He was named the university's 1942 NCAA champion, 3 time NCAA All-American, and was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Turning to pro football in 1946, Arms joined the National Football League's Chicago Cardinals, and played three seasons with them as a gunner under the leadership of coach Jimmy Conselman, before retiring in 1948. A veteran of World War II, Arms also served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army. (bio by: K)
