US Cabinet Secretary. He served as Secreatry of the Navy and Deputy Secretary of Defense in the Eisenhower administration before being appointed Secretary of the Treasury in 1957. He served in that capacity until January 20, 1961. In 1987, he was sentenced to a prison term of five months for income tax evasion in 1983 and 1984 and of operating an illegal offshore bank.
