The above date reflects the date that the C-47 he was on crashed. The actual date of Victor's passing is currently unknown.

Husband of Joanne L. Rankin who resided in Laguna Beach, California.

Victor, who was a civilian, was also a passenger on C-47 #42-32868 that was assigned to the 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron, 443rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force.

C-47 #42-32868 took off, with a crew of 3 & 2 passengers, from Dinjan, Assam, India on a Air Supply mission to Tingkawk Sakan, Burma.

They crashed, for an unknown reason, into a mountain. At the time of the crash the Pilot (who was slightly injured), Co-Pilot (who suffered a head wound), Radio Operator (who was suffering from a back injury), and one of the passengers (who had a broken leg & arm), survived the crash.

The Pilot & Co-Pilot set out to find help through the jungle. Shortly they left the Co-Pilot noted that he couldn't go on. The Pilot continued through the jungle which took him 8 days before finally finding someone. Even though a search was made for the other they could not be found.

Victor was declared "Missing" in this crash during the war.
