John Mundell was the son of James & Margaret (Garrett) Mundell. John was the second oldest of 10 children.
In 1772 in PA John married a Jane unknown. (Some feel Jane was a Buckingham, please click on her memorial for more on that.)
Before 1780 John and his wife moved from PA to Jefferson Co, KY. John came to KY with his neighbors who were members of the Chenowith family. The Mundells & Chenowiths were members of the Goshen Baptist Church.
By 1800 the first mill built in Seatonville pct had been built by John. It was on Floyd's Fork 1/2 mile below Seatonville.
John & Jane had 7 children: James, Andrew, Magaretha, Polly, Sarah, Nally & John.
In Nov 1782 John served in the Militia under Capt Richard Chenowith in a campaign against the Indians. There were other times when John was in action against the Indians.
His wife Jane (who died after John) is buried next to him.
John's marker reads, John Mundell died 1806, aged about 56 years. Jane's marker is no longer legible.
One contributor notes that Sarah Mundell Akers mem# 89204840 was John's daughter.
