Roger Bowling
Birth: Dec. 3, 1944
Death: Dec. 25, 1982

Roger Bowling was a songwriter. He wrote the songs "Lucille" and "Coward Of The County" for singer Kenny Rogers. Kenny also was the star actor in the movie "Coward Of The County" named for the song. The song also was played in the movie. Country female singer Billie Jo Spears had a big hit with his song "Blanket On The Ground". Roger recorded a few songs himself but was never popular in country music as a singer but only as a songwriter. He recorded a song called "The Yellow Pages" which made it in the top twenty country music charts. He later released a song called "A Little Bit Of Heaven" which barely peaked in the music charts. He became friends with a lot of country music stars which some attended his funeral. Tammy Wynette was one of the stars who attended the funeral. Tammy's husband, George Richey who is also a well known songwriter and a long time friend was also at the funeral services.  (bio by: Jimmy Gilstrap)
