Allan Paul Clark, 83, died Friday, March 9, 2007, following a several-month-long battle with a blood disorder. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 6, 1923 in Salt Lake City. He was the fifth of 10 children born to Lavinia Irene Card and Alma Porter Clark. Paul spent his youth in Star Valley, where he met the love of his life, Marvalene Louise Thurman. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 19, 1946.
Paul, Marvalene and family lived in Burley, Idaho, for five years. They moved to Lovell in December, 1955. They have lived on their farm west of Lovell for 51 years. Paul was engaged in dairy farming and farming.
Paul served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Navajo-Zuni Mission in 1948. Paul and Marvalene served a mission together in the Arizona-Phoenix Mission in 1995.
Paul has served in many positions in the church. For the last six years, he was an ordinance worker in the temple in Billings, Mont.
He was a hard-working, outgoing, cheerful and friendly person. He had a great love for music and sang in the church choir for many years. He loved to fly, and for a time he had his own airplane. He liked to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.
Paul is survived by his wife Marvalene of Lovell, 11 children: David (Sherell) Clark of Colstrip, Mont., Louise (Richard) Brower of Union City, Calif., Karen (Stan) LeCheminant of Chester, Idaho, Janice (Mike) Rausch of Roy, Utah, Mary (Johnny) Stock of Santee, Calif., Evelyn Baldwin of Oviedo, Fla., Allan (Cindy) Clark of Byron, Spencer (Terri) Clark of Ladson, S.C., JoAnn (Scott) York of Sterling, Va., Grant (Terri) Clark of Cheyenne, and Greg (Lonnie) Clark of Powell; 59 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; his brother Alma C. (Beth) Clark of Burley, Idaho; sisters Joyce (Charles) Elzinga of Brigham City, Utah, Wand Limb of Boise, Idaho, Myrna (Max) Dutson of Emmett, Idaho, Geraldine (Kay) Johnson of Cottonwood, Ariz., and sister-in-law Yvonne Clark of Afton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dean, Lynn and an infant brother; sister Barbara Bassett; and three grandchildren, Lori Ann Cruz, Joselyn Clark and Wesley Clark.
A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Haskell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the LDS Stake Center in Lovell. A viewing will take place at the church for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Lovell Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
