The death of Mrs. Angeline Ray occurred Dec. 25., at her home about ten miles north of Blair after several days illness with pneumonia and complications of heart trouble. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Herman Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 28 at two o'clock and burial was made in the Tekamah Cemetery.
Mrs. Angeline Bowden Ray was born Sept. 2, 1854 at Huron, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Joseph Ray, Sept 25, 1869 and the family lived in Indiana until 1880 when they emigrated to Nebraska.
The lived near Tekamah prior to settling on the farm where the deceased has made her home many years and where her death occurred at the age of seventy-three years, three months, and twenty-three days. Her husband died a number of years ago.
The deceased was the mother of twelve children, three dying in infancy. Those who survive are Mrs. Mary York of Tekamah, Mrs. Anna Myers of Overton, Neb; Mrs. Cora Parish of Decatur, Neb; Mrs. Nellie Peterson of Lyons, Neb; Ralph, Grace, Fred, Clifford and Glen of the vicinity of Blair.
Besides her own family she served as mother to the following step-children: Mrs. Susie Bowden if Overton, Neb., Mrs. Luricky Smith and Mrs. Hettie Davis of Craig, Neb. She is also survived by thirty grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and by five brothers, who are: Clark Bowden of Overton, Wiley Bowden of Holden, Mo., Eli and Sam Bowden of Tekamah and George Bowden of New Castle, Wyo.
Mrs. Ray was indeed a pioneer mother of Nebraska, coming to this county when the country was sparsely settled and helping make a home for a growing family of boys and girls. Keeping them in school and seeing that they well cared for was not small job and one that many a stronger woman would hesitate to take upon herself.
The deceased was a good mother, a kind neighbor and a sympathetic friend. She was a great home body and so perhaps did not make new friend as easily as some but those who knew her best loved her and she has many old friends who regret her passing

Johnson, Miss Eledyce Godsey, C. R. Gray and Fred Robertson with Mrs. L. V. Ackerman at the piano. Mrs. Ray passed away at her home east of Herman, Sunday, Dec. 25th and was laid to rest in the Tekamah cemetery.
