Edward Carl "Dutch" Sternaman

Professional Football Player. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he attended the Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois, and then the University of Illinois, where he played football under coaching great Robert "Bob" Zuppke, from 1918 to 1920. As a fullback, halfback, and quarterback, Sternahan went onto play for the Decatur Staleys (later the Chicago Bears of the NFL) in 1920, and the Chicago Staleys in 1922. From 1922 to 1927, Sternaman played for at the National Football League's Chicago Bears. The brother of football player Joe Sternahan, and friend, colleague, and former teammate of football legend George Halas, Sternahan also helped to manage the Decatur Staleys, and was co-owner of the Chicago Bears until he sold his share in 1932. Sternahan also coached at the North Park University in Chicago.
