Amarillo's traffic death rate for 1973 surpassed the 1972 total of eight fatalities early Sunday when two men were killed in a car-truck collision at NE 24th and Fritch Highway.

The deaths of Royal Junior Bishop, 45, of 2510 Aldridge, and Ted Marion Addington, 33, 4015 Pinion represented the eighth and ninth persons to be killed on city streets this year.

Bishop came to Amarillo a year ago. He was a native of Wingate and was employed by Jefferoy Manufacturing Co.

Bishop is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Bishop of 300 N. Louisiana; three daughters, Hilda and Christine of Houston, and Mrs. Debbie Kay Hovenec of Riverside, Calif.; four brothers, A.J. of Crowley, Alvin of Amarillo, W.T. of Burleson, and J.H. of Leeds, Ala.; six sisters, Mrs. Lillian Pinkerton of Del Rio, Mrs. Lois Holt of Amarillo, Mrs. Geneava Mitchell of Memphis, Mrs. Annalee Marrow of Quemado, Mrs. Irma Ruth Sharp of Amarillo, and Miss Lola Mae Bishop of Albuquerque.
