John Albert Ommerman, 76

September 1, 1850 ~ June 6, 1927

John A. Ommerman was brought to the Blair Hospital Monday evening at about 9 o’clock in a very serious condition and he passed away at about 11 that evening of old age. The funeral service was held at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Joe Olson, seven miles northwest of Blair, with whom he had lived for the past 14 years, at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Rev. T. J. Reese, of Herman officiating. Burial was in the Thone Cemetery. Deceased was born near Clarksville, Ohio, Sept. 1st, 1850, so was in his 77th year. The family removed to Indiana and later to this county when he was yet a small boy, settling on a farm 7 miles northwest of Blair. He was married to Miss Louisa Turner and six children were born to them, all of whom are living, George, the oldest son, hasn’t been heard of for fifteen years, Mrs. Jos. Olson, Mrs. Wallace P. Dixon, of Tekamah, Mrs. Orval Shere, Sioux City, Mrs. John Burton, who lives six miles south of Blair, and Sam, of Denver, Colo. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also, an only brother, D. A. Ommerman, of Norfolk, who has present for the funeral. His wife died five years ago in July.
