Leah Bentley, 94, died Tuesday, July 23, 2006, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas, She was born on Febuary 10, 1912 in Rush County, Kansas to Christ and Elizabeth (Kindsvater) Sievert.

Leah married Clayton Stanley Bentley on Jamuary, 1928 at Jerome, KS. Clayton died on October 16, 1985.

Leah was born on the farm near Nekoma. She attended school at Nekoma. Leah married at a young age. The marriage took place at her parent's home in Jerome. Leah and her husband moved from the Jerome area to Healy in 1937. There they farmed and raised their family. Leah was a great help to her husband with the farm chores. Leah also loved to garaden.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son-Valeny Bentley, 1 daughter-Velma Siebert, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.

Survivors include 1 son-Wayne Bentley, Healy, KS; 1 daughter-Velura Schmalzied, McPherson, KS; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Friday, July 28, 2006 at 2:00 P.M.at the United Methodist Church in Healy, KS. with Rev. James L. Bracket officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Healy Cemetery in Healy, KS.

Memorials may be sent to the Hospice House of Hutchinson, Kansas in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
