Ruth Elizabeth Caldwell Russell, age 97 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018.
After her retirement from Electro-Voice she wanted to serve by helping others. She spent many years volunteering for the Sevier County Food Ministry as well as the Salvation Army, until age 94. She was notably recognized for her volunteer efforts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer "Pete" Russell; sisters Willa Mae Walker and Dora Kidd.
She is survived by her daughter, Jody Greer and husband Milton; granddaughter, Julie Runyan; step-grandchildren, Ruth Downing, Buddy Greer, Marvin Greer; great-grandchildren, Jaycie and Chessa; step-great-grandchildren, Lydia, Hannah, Phoebe, Joshua, Jordan, Roman and Eden; sister, Edna Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Freedom Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1046, Pigeon Forge TN 37868, to benefit their Bible printing ministry that enables distribution of Bibles throughout the world.
The family will receive friends 12 PM – 1 PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 1 PM in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Parton officiating. Family and friends will meet at 3 PM Thursday at Piney Level Cemetery for interment.
