Born Oscar Ernest - but preferring to go by Ernest - he was the son of Antoine Oscar and Emelise Mercier Beauvais of Morganza, Louisiana in Pointe Coupee Parish.
His siblings included Regina Beauvais Goudeau and Valentine Beauvais Lossoir, who are also interred in this cemetery. The others are buried elsewhere.
He married late to widower Alice Ortego Deaville.
Ernest raised his stepchildren, Telemark Deaville, Victoria Deaville Doherty, and Aimee Deaville Fontenot, as his own.
With Alice he also had six of his own children: Horace Beavauis, Salonie Beauvais Armand, Mildred Beauvais Genova, Ernest Beauvais, Hazel Beauvais Smith, and Lillian Beauvais Fletcher.
