Margie Anne Cason Strickland of Waycross, passed away, Sunday April 1, 2007 to be with the Lord and Savior following a long battle with colon cancer.

A Pierce County native, she lived in Pierce and Ware County most of her life. For the last two years she had lived in Keystone Heights, Florida. She worked at Satilla Regional Hospital (Memorial) for 13 years and then 15 years of service with the Department of Family and Children Services. In 1996, she was the State of Georgia Eligibility Caseworker of the year. She retired in 2001.

She was a former member of the Hebardville United Methodist church in Waycross before moving her letter to Keystone United Methodist church in Keystone Heights FL. There she was a member of the Passage Sunday school Class. Mrs. Strickland was an active trained Layman Speaker who often led church services.

Recently, she had returned to Waycross to be with her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, granny, great granny, sister and friend. She was the daughter of the late Alton William Cason and Mrs. Juval Helen Howell Cason Courson.

Survivors include her husband William A. Strickland Sr. of Keystone Heights, FL. Step-father Andrew T. Courson of Waycross, two daughters and son-in-laws Susan (Greg) Bennett of Blackshear and Cindy (Ronald B.) Thomas of Waycross, one brother Jerry Cason of Blackshear, two granddaughters , Candice (Nicolas) Jarrard and Ashley Carter both of Waycross, one grandson Dalton Basile of Waycross, one great-granddaughter, Ayla R. Jarrard of Waycross, a step-daughter Gina Plummer of Green Cove Springs, FL. A step-son William A. Strickland Jr. of Green Cove Springs, FL., a niece Lisa (Rick) Spencer of Fernandina Beach, FL., a nephew Jeff Cason of Yulee, FL. A special friend Peggy Ray of Waycross, her beloved canine companion Jasmine and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends and family from 6pm til 8pm Tuesday, 2007 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 2pm Wednesday April 4, 2007 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

A funeral for Margie Anne Cason Strickland was held Wednesday at the Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Smith and the Rev. Edmund Thrift officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence Woodard, Steve Mitchell , Jimmy Scurry, Jimmy Ray, Pondie Chappell and Ronald Boatright.
