Robert Burns ( Bob ) Goris, 74, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2003 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he had lived for most of his life. Bob, the third son of William and Jean Bennie Goris, was born on January 25, 1929, in Bingham Canyon, Utah. He graduated from Bingham High School in 1947 and attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Psychology and Sociology. Bob worked for several companies during his career, mostly in accounting. He spent the majority of his working career at City Services, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he retired in 1984. Since that time, he has been associated with an animal grooming shop in Tulsa, the Kennel Shop, owned and operated by Mary Nell Finney.
Bob was a gifted writer and loved music for which he had an especial talent at the piano. As a young man, he was married twice, and also divorced twice. His real happiness came in 1974, when he met his long term companion and lifetime friend, Miss Mary Nell Finney. Bob and Mary Nell were together for over 30 years.
Survivors include Mary Nell, her three daughters, Marilyn Rhoades, Tulsa; Michele Taylor, Dallas Texas; and Phyllis Hobbs, Dallas; and several of their children. Siblings include Helene M. Summers, Moreno Valley, California; Jean Marie Kern, Sylvania, Ohio; Catherine Ann Gray, Magna, Utah; Frances R. Bolliger, Peoria, Arizona; James Goris, Peoria, Arizona; John Mathew Goris, Spokane, Washington; and Harold David Goris, Glendale, Arizona. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and by four brothers: William Bennie, Paul, Chris, and George William.
Funeral services for Bob will be held in Tulsa, Ok. A memorial service will be held in Midvale, at a later date.
