DANIEL H. MARKLEY, Esq.,died at his home in York Springs on Sunday morning at 2 o'clock.

He was born near Shiremanstown, Cumberland county, March 7, 1828 died at the age of twelve moved to Fayetteville, where he grew to manhood. Sixty years ago last April he was married to Anna C. Houck, of Center Mills.

Mr. Markley served in the Civil War as a member of Co. F 91st Penna Vols.

He was engaged in the mercantile business in Idaville for many years and later moved to York Springs.

He had been a justice of the peace in York Springs for the past twenty five years.

The funeral services occurred from his late home on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock with interment in Sunnyside cemetery. Rev. L. M. Gardner and Rev. Paul Glatfelter conducting the services.

He is survived by a wife, one son, Dr. E. H. Markley, of Gettysburg; and three daughters, Mrs. E. C. Stock, of Baltimore; and Mrs.C. W.Gardner, and Miss Jennie Markley, of York Springs.

In 1860, he was a merchant living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 10" tall with dark hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted from Huntington Township, Adams County, to date February 27, 1865, mustered into federal service that day at Chambersburg as a private with Co. F, 91st Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company July 10, 1865.

Cause of death is listed as "hemorrhage of the brain" while in a state of "senile debility."
