Husband of Mary Hunter Dearing. They were the parents of Alexander Dearing, who married Ruth Rogers, granddaughter of Col. James Martin of Snow Creek in Stokes Co.; Rosamond Dearing, who married an Odeneal; and Mary Dearing, who became the wife of Randall Duke Scales, and became the mistress of "Boxwoods" in Madison. (Randall and Mary later moved to Mississippi.) William Dearing was the owner of "Valley Home" plantation in the Belews Creek area at one time.

William Dearing born 20 July 1763 in Orange County, Virginia and Mary McFarland Hunter born 7 Sept 1763 in Campbell County, Virginia had twelve known children:
