Claire Lear Brown, adored wife of the late Richard Y. Brown, passed away on February 25, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Haven, CT in 1925, the daughter of the late Jeanette (Seicol) Lear and Herman K. Lear, Claire was married to Richard, the love of her life, for 60 years. Claire was a 1944 graduate of Weaver High School and she was "born to sing". Claire was a raven-haired, blue-eyed beauty, whose love of music and its ability to heal hurting hearts was her core belief. Her capacity to love as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and friend was immeasurable. She only saw the good in people and was passionately involved in helping people reach their fullest potential. In 1976, Claire founded S.E.N.S.E., The Society for the Evolution of Non-Smoking Entertainment. Her organization gave a showcase to many individuals who otherwise may not have had opportunities to display their talents and creativity. She received recognition and numerous awards for her volunteerism and selfless commitment to the betterment of her community. Always smiling, always caring, she touched many lives with her unconditional love and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Claire leaves behind her three devoted children; Diane Lohr, of Windsor; Lynne Furman and her husband Bill of Newington and Robert Brown of Austin, TX. She leaves her beloved brother Norman Lear and his wife Lyn Davis Lear of Los Angeles, CA; her brother-in-law Dr. Elliott Brown of S. Orleans, MA; her granddaughters, Sherri Koss of CT, Lisa Howell and her husband Dan, Joyce Furman, and Nancy Arasimowicz and her husband Edward, all of Newington; grandson Steven Berman of Newington; seven great grandchildren, Jesse, Danielle, Kyle, Matthew, Samantha, Chelsea and Allyson who adored their "GG"; seven nieces and one nephew.
