|Birth: ||Oct. 11, 1801|
|Death: ||Sep., 1879|
Son of Joshua and Mary. John was the husband of Catherine Rogers. He was the father of 14 children. At the time of his death in the 1870's he was a widower,living with his daughter, Sarah and her husband, Thomas Halp in Goshen City, Mercer Co., MO.
"According to older family members the patriarch of this family, John Etherton was buried by his wife in the private cemetery on their farm. In 1983 when I visited the grounds of the old homestead, the little cemetery was located among a grove of lovely old trees. My mother and I and a friend who took us there searched the area for a stone for John to no avail. If a stone was ever placed it is now missing. Stones were however found for his wife and four of their children. This hallowed burial ground is not protected and is over run by cattle. Louise Taraba, 47677075, a 3rd Great Granddaughter. 8/2016."
